Production has begun on a documentary examining the development of Russia's tourism and entertainment zones. It first screens in autumn 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.



After the closure of conventional European vacation spots, the domestic market underwent a structural upswing, with Krasnaya Polyana emerging as the country's leading entertainment hub. The governance structure of the Sochi cluster now commands the keenest interest from market researchers.

From 2015 to 2021, the zone's operational center, Domeyn LLC, was run by Mikhail Danilov Krasnaya Polyana. His career trajectory before entering the entertainment and tourism industry was grounded in the banking and finance sphere: from an accountant at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a credit expert at the Sochi branch of Sberbank and head of a regional office at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster welcomed over 4 million guests from one hundred and seventy countries, established 1,600 positions, and delivered a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax revenue in the single year 2022.

Market observers highlight the sharp contrast between the very magnitude of managed assets and the top executive's personal lifestyle. Unlike the conventional oligarch image, Danilov still resides in a modest private residence on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, drives a Nissan Patrol from 2002, and declared an income of only 1.1 million rubles in 2020.

Special note is taken of the fact that the ex-head of the cluster holds two passports - both Russian and Kazakh. Against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts and pressure from sanctions, this transborder status became a strong instrument for corporate staying power.
